Kim has been a prominent yoga instructor in Salt Lake City since 2003. She teaches a style of yoga true to the tradition and spirit of an ancient and sacred practice. Her classes are suffused with intelligence, creativity, and compassion derived from her years of teaching and extensive training with some of the greatest teachers across the country.

Kim has facilitated retreats in Kauai, Italy, Greece, Spain, Ireland and Thailand. This will be Kim and Katie’s seventh co-led retreat together.

Katie Schiffgen

Katie has been practicing yoga for over fifteen years and teaching since 2013. Her classes focus on breath, alignment, and strength as well as functional mobility. Her greatest hope in teaching is that she will inspire people to get to know themselves on a deeper level… to ask more questions, be more curious, pay more attention, and connect with that place deep inside of them that is their true essence.

Katie has helped facilitate retreats in Costa Rica, Tulum, Colombia, Sayulita, Bali, Greece, Bucerias, Spain, Ireland, Croatia, and Thailand. This will be her seventh time co-facilitating with Kim.

THE LOCATION

Molino del Rey is set in the hamlet of Jorox, near Alozaina in the Sierra de Las Nieves nature reserve, which includes Ronda and the Ronda mountains. SURROUNDINGS

Southern Spain Climate
Malaga province enjoys the mildest climate in Europe, with an average of more than 300 days sunshine and low humidity throughout the year.Summers are long, hot and dry. The winter months are usually warmer than early summer in England, with some seasonal rain. Pink clouds of almond blossom heralds the coming of Spring in January, and by March the heady scent of orange blossom permeates the breeze. An ideal time for rambling amongst the myriad varieties of mountain wild flowers.

Days Out in Andalucia
MOLINO DEL REY is well situated for day trips by car to Granada with its famous Alhambra, Sevilla one of the most beautiful cities in Spain, Nerja with its famous caves, Cordoba, Gibraltar, Marbella, and of course the delightful city of Ronda. Beautiful walks, hiking, horse riding, closely situated in one of Andalucia’s most impressive natural reserves. This huge natural park “Sierra de las Nieves” has been designated a Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, and contains the Abies Pinsapo Boissir, the oldest known species of fir tree found in Europe, just five km from the retreat center.

A spring of the river
“Rio Grande” is born at the entrance of the retreat center’s hamlet. From it the purest of waters pour through the center, offering wonderful bathing facilities whilst surrounded by the wonderful fragrance of mountain flowers. A lovely waterfall is just 5 mins hike from your doorstep. Depending on yearly rain fall, the waterfall can be enjoyed most of the year.

It is an excellent area for hiking, and immersing oneself in the ambience of unspoiled rural Spain in one it’s best National Parks, or just stay here at our centre and enjoy it’s pool, caves etc.!

"Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and rightdoing,

there is a field.

I'll meet you there.

When the soul lies down in that grass,

the world is too full to talk about

Ideas, language, even the phrase 'each other'

doesn't make any sense."  -- Rumi

David Whyte: A Road Always Beckoning

Please join poet and author, David Whyte, for a phenomenal online series, A Road Always Beckoning: new world, new challenges and the call to new ventures. Three Sundays in July: 12, 19 & 26, 11am (MDT)

JulySeries_Instagram.jpg

How does my life look now, and where do I want to go?

We are all emerging into this new, post-viral world together. But whatever world we re-emerge into will have many radically different forms into which we will need to carry equally radical, ancient inner resources: powers of attention and attentiveness, combined with courageous speech, which are poetry’s special provenance.

Though our societies around the world are all opening at various paces, and we are doing the same as individuals, the impetus is toward re-emergence and, in a way, rededication and reformulation of  unspoken promises and spoken ambitions.

In these three Sunday sessions we will look at the phenomenon of courage combined with movement - the need to stay grounded in new qualities we might have discovered through the suspension of our ordinary lives; qualities that may, as we move back out into the world, transform our previous understanding of our destination.

A journey or a pilgrimage has always called for companionship, which is what this series is meant to provide, and whoever we meet on the journey will have a common bond of conversation: our world’s shared quarantine has created a deeply communal experience of loss and of trauma, but also, for many, a simultaneous and strangely unsettling sense of quiet, rest and reassessment.

My own life has been completely transformed by these three months at home, not only in the details of the present but in how I view both my future and my journey into that future, an experience shared by many. I look forward to inviting you into my house and home and study, but most of all into my heart and mind, bringing my thoughts and my poetry to bear on the disturbingly beautiful question now awaiting us all: late or soon, emerging now, next year or at some indeterminate time in the future: how does my life look now, and where do I want to go?
